Minnesota Festivals and Events Association is Minnesota’s premier event industry association. We strive to provide event planners, volunteers and vendors with education, networking opportunities and industry knowledge.

Join MNFEA at the Annual Conference! Each session is crafted to meet educational needs of the event industry. Sessions are presented by local planners and professionals who are leaders in their field. Not only will you learn event management skills, you will come away with innovative ideas, new connections and applicable practices for your next event.

In addition to a great line-up of sessions, join us for networking fun on Wednesday night and the annual "Soiree" social held Thursday night.

8:30 - 10 a.m. - Networking Breakfast and Registration

9:15 - 9:45 a.m.: Events / MNFEA 101
Are you new to event planning? Have questions about MNFEA? Want to network with others that are new to their organization or new to event planning? MNFEA board members will be on hand to answer questions and brainstorm ways to make your event shine. Topics will be participant driven but will cover the biggies...volunteer management, sponsorship and marketing. We look forward to meeting you!

10:15 - 11:15 a.m.: Working with the Media 
Tim joined Media Minefield as their Executive Director in 2014 after spending the last 21-years at KARE-11 TV, the NBC news affiliate in the Twin Cities. An award winning news and sports anchor, Tim has experienced TV news as a photographer, producer, reporter and anchor, spending the last decade of his career co-anchoring the markets top-rated morning news program, KARE 11 Sunrise.Tim will present on how to get your event exposure in local and regional media outlets

11:30 a.m. - 12 p.m.: Permits! Permits! Permits!
Whether this is your first event or one of hundreds you have done, staying on top of the ever changing rules, regulations and permits can be challenging.  Find out what is new with permits and how to make permits your friend.

1:15 - 2 p.m.: The Sponsorship Process 
Take the sponsorship process from start to finish in this session with both an event and a sponsor. Identify what you have to sell, why a sponsor will bite and keep them coming back year after year.

2:15 - 3 p.m.: Building a VIP Space at your Event 
You've seen them at big concerts and festivals...the VIP area. Is it only for the big guys or another way to increase revenue for your event - even on a limited budget or at a free festival? Learn from several events that have added the VIP Experience and will pull back the curtain to show you how easy it can be! Fans, sponsors and your events bottom line will thank you!

3:15 - 4 p.m.: ADA Compliance
Festivals, events and fairs celebrate and support a ‘sense of community’ and encourage participation from all people.  So how do you make sure your event is accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities? We’ll discuss the requirements and best practices for events large and small to ensure all of your guests feel welcome and return year after year.

2:30 - 3:15 p.m.: Booking the Right Talent for your Event
