FAQs

Do the boats sail in inclement weather?

We sail rain or shine. In the event of severe weather, it is up to the captain of the boat to make the decision on whether to leave at the designated time, or to wait a few moments while the storm passes over. All areas where food is served are enclosed, as well as heated and air conditioned, so you will definitely stay dry and comfortable!

Do you have a dress code?

We do not have a dress code. Our customers dress in everything from casual to formal. We encourage everyone to dress based on the situation they are celebrating.

Are you handicapped accessible?

Because of their unique design and regulatory characteristics, excursion vessels are not subject to the ADA Accessibility Guidelines for Buildings and Facilities (ADAAG). With that said we make every reasonable effort to assist and accommodate passengers with special needs. We do provide ADA accessibility to our facility and vessels, however Coast Guard regulations require water barriers (raised thresholds in doorways). All vessels are multi-deck and are not fitted with rail lifts or elevators. Restrooms on the Anson Northrup and Betsey Northrup are outfitted with grab bars and are useable by persons with special needs. The restrooms on the Jonathan Padelford, built in 1969 are not large enough to accommodate wheelchairs.

Where will we go on our cruise?

It all depends on the length of your cruise. On our 1.5 hour sightseeing cruise we head towards Fort Snelling. On a 4 hour Lock and Lunch Cruise we make our way through the Ford Lock and Dam, turn around by the Lake Street Bridge and then come back down river. All of our cruises provide the best viewing possible of the St. Paul/Mississippi River National Park and Recreation Area.

Is smoking allowed on the boat?

Smoking is allowed on the outside decks only. No smoking is allowed anywhere in the interior cabins.
